Container cranes for border crossings

More than 20 container cranes of Baltkran have been intensively operated at the railway border crossings of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Mongolia since 1996.

Crossing processes at rail border points play a central role in facilitating international rail transport. Since the entire network is only as strong as its weakest link, one weak rail border crossing can undermine the efficiency of the entire rail corridor. Therefore, the quality and reliability of each piece of equipment at the border crossing is very important for the smooth operation of the entire system.

Baltkran received another order for a gantry container crane with a lifting capacity of 45 tons under spreader, a bridge length of more than 40 m. for the Grodekovo station of the Far Eastern Railway, which serves as a border crossing connecting the Russian Federation with the PRC (Suifenhe station), its main function is to transship cargo in both directions.

The new gantry crane is equipped with a rotating trolley which provides faster cycle and increased productivity. The range of container rotation is 180 degrees, the speed and reliability of this function is important precisely for border crossings, because the requirements and norms for the location of container doors are different on both sides of the border. The crane was ordered as part of the program for the modernization of Primorsky railway crossings, implemented by Russian Railways. The delivery of the crane is scheduled for 2020.

In March, four months ahead of schedule, at the request of the customer, Baltkran shipped a double-cantilever rail-mounted container crane, with a lifting capacity of 45 tons, with a bridge length of more than 50 m. for Fresh Terminal, Commercial Sea Port of Vladivostok.
